pretty good for ux

anyone else use designlab? i did their ux research course and it was solid. my mentor helped a lot with portfolio reviews. my only tiny nitpick is their refund policy seemed a little vague, but overall good. 👍

Great value on Product Design

I was looking for a Product Design course that wouldn't break the bank. I managed to get a good early bird discount on the Product Design course, which made it feel like a really good deal. The content covered a lot of ground, and the mentor support was excellent. It felt like I got a lot of bang for my buck, definitely worth the investment for the knowledge gained.

UX Academy was amazing

UX Academy was absolutely fantastic! The 1-on-1 mentorship made such a huge difference, I felt so supported. The curriculum was challenging but so rewarding. I learned so much and genuinely enjoyed the whole process. I will definitely be recommending Designlab to all my friends interested in design!

Good course, slow support

I took the Interaction Design course. The curriculum itself was quite thorough and I learned a lot of practical skills. My mentor was generally helpful and knowledgeable. However, I had an issue with accessing a specific module at one point, and it took about three days for customer support to resolve it, which was a bit frustrating. The content quality was high, but that delay in getting a technical issue fixed could be improved.

Consistent quality learning

I've taken a few courses with Designlab over the years, including UX Academy Foundations and now Advanced Design Craft. My experience has always been consistently good. The mentors are knowledgeable, and the platform is easy to navigate. It's why I keep coming back for more, I know I'll get quality content and good feedback.

Detailed AI for UX course review

I recently completed the AI for UX Design course. The enrollment process was smooth online, and I received confirmation quickly. The course materials were well-structured, with a mix of videos and readings. My mentor was responsive and provided actionable feedback on my assignments, usually within 24 hours. The pace was manageable, and I felt the content was current. I appreciated the access to the Designlab Community forum, which was helpful for peer interaction. Delivery of course content was entirely digital, obviously. The only minor point was that some links to external articles were occasionally broken, but this was rare. Overall, a solid learning experience for anyone looking to upskill in this area.

Learned a lot easily

I signed up for Design 101 to see if design was for me. It was pretty straightforward to get started. The lessons were easy to follow and the projects were fun. The mentor checked in regularly which was nice. Overall, it was a good experience and I felt like I learned a decent amount without too much hassle.

I'm still pretty new to UX. Do I need to know a lot before jumping into UX Academy, or can I start from scratch?

D Daisy N. 1 month ago
You'll probably want to do UX Academy Foundations first. That's what I did, it really preps you for the main academy program. It's designed to get you up to speed.

Foundations is definitely the way to go if you're a beginner. It covers all the basics you'd need before diving into the deeper stuff in UX Academy.

Can you pay for the UX Academy in installments, or do you have to drop all the money at once?

T Tara 2 months ago
Yeah, they have payment plans. I didn't pay it all upfront; I think I did monthly installments. It made it a lot more manageable.

They totally offer payment plans! I used one for my course. I think you just talk to admissions about it when you're enrolling.

How long does it take to actually finish one of these bootcamps? I'm trying to plan my schedule around it.

A Andre 2 months ago
It depends on which one you do. UX Academy Foundations is like 4 weeks if you go full-time, but I did it part-time and it took me longer. The main UX Academy is much longer, several months.

The Foundations course was about a month for me, working on it pretty consistently. The full Academy is definitely a bigger commitment, so check the course page for the exact duration.

Hey, does Designlab ever do big discounts or promo codes? I'm eyeing the UI Design course but trying to save some cash.

D Dan 1 month ago
They mostly do scholarships or referral bonuses from what I've seen. Like, you can apply for different scholarships, or if someone refers you, they get a credit and you might too. Actual promo codes are pretty rare.

i got a referral bonus when i signed up for foundations. check if anyone you know has taken a course, they can probably send you a link. that's usually how it works.

Thinking of signing up for UX Academy, but like, is it actually worth the price tag? Seems pretty steep compared to some other options out there.

T Todd E. 1 month ago
I was wondering the same thing before I joined. For me, the 1-on-1 mentorship made a huge difference, way better than just watching videos. It's expensive but you get a lot of personalized feedback.

Yeah, if you compare it to General Assembly, the mentorship here is much more intensive. My mentor was super helpful with my portfolio. I think it's worth it if you can swing it.
